Please find details below of a brand new funding opportunity from the South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group for the Totnes and Dartmouth areas.
New: South Devon and Torbay Community Grants Fund
What is the community grants fund?
The South Devon and Torbay Community Grants Fund is an initiative by the South Devon & Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group supporting community-led schemes to improve health and wellbeing. It provides small community groups across South Devon and Torbay (in the South Hams this is only the Totnes and Dartmouth areas) with a small grant for schemes designed to:
- Help people get more physically active
- Encourage people to look after themselves better (‘self-care’) and to live more positive and fulfilled lives
- Promote emotional health and wellbeing
- Support recovery from drug or alcohol misuse
- Reduce loneliness and social isolation within communities.
Grants may be from £25-£1000 but most will be under £500. Schemes might include setting up a new walking group, a cooking skills workshop, room hire for a new self-care group, or tools for a community gardening scheme – imaginative ideas where a small amount of funding can make a difference to people’s lives.
Applying for funding
Applications can be made at any time. For details of how to apply please email: Community.email@example.com Our local Community and Voluntary organisations will offer support with applications if needed.
Schemes should benefit a group of people rather than just one individual, and they should benefit people living within the Totnes & Dartmouth areas. (Please note this grant fund is not available outside these areas and doesn’t include Kingsbridge).
Projects supporting a particular religious or political persuasion will not be funded. We especially welcome applications from individuals or new groups who have a good idea to benefit their community.
Approval of schemes
Applications are assessed by a panel of local people who will check whether schemes meet the criteria above and are likely to achieve their aims. Panels meet approximately every two months during the year.
How will we know if we’ve made a difference?
Schemes should be completed within six months of the grant award. Applicants will be asked for feedback on how the money has been spent, and what has been achieved. Experiences will be collected in any format eg. audio stories, video diaries or pictures. We hope to share examples of successful schemes on our websites to encourage others to try something in their own communities. We also plan to hold an annual event for all applicants to share successes and learning across South Devon and Torbay.
