PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COASTAL FOOTPATH AT BLACKPOOL HILL IS OPENED WITH A TEMPORARY PATH
The contractor Gary Pilbeam and his team have worked through awful weather this week to complete the temporary path around the large 3 metre deep hole in the Coast Path, above Blackpool Sands, in time for the Xmas hols. Blackpool Sands is a ‘honeypot’ location for day-trippers and walkers alike, and subsequently this is a popular stretch of the Coast Path. In the main the public were ignoring the suggested inland diversion using the old Coast Path route along Mill Lane, and were instead braving the A379, on a stretch with no verge and fast traffic shooting down the hill. It was therefore a priority to construct a viable, safe off-road route around the hole asap, and ideally in time for the hols. It is a testament to Gary and his team’s work ethic, skill and enthusiasm for PRoW work that this has been achieved.
The emergency closure notices have been removed and the new temporary route is self-evident.
A word of thanks as well for the help and support provided by the landowners, the Newmans, who were more than willing to accommodate this temporary route across their land.
