Clerk to the Parish Council
The Council seeks a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.
The position is part-time, working from home and attending meetings. It is a permanent position, involving 35 hours each month on average. Salary will be in accordance with national recommended rates starting at SCP 5 (£10.04 per hour) subject to revision annually on 1st April.
The Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month, normally at the Stoke Fleming Village Hall but currently remotely by Zoom.
Key responsibilities and tasks: To prepare papers including agendas for meetings; take and produce minutes of meetings; attend meetings as required; administer the finances of the Council together with the Chairman; ensure the Council works within its legal framework; to make arrangements for work to be carried out by contractors; to facilitate the work of the Council generally.
Skills and abilities: Previous local government experience is desirable but not essential. Training will be available as required. Candidates should be organised, independent and adaptable; have proficient IT skills; be numerate and able to write clearly and concisely; be able to manage their own time effectively and work with a wide range of people; liaise as required with Devon County Council and South Hams District Council officers and elected members.
